Rivals

Yesterday, as I watch the wings play colorado, I thought of how much hockey has changed in the past few years. The rival that was once there is just gone, you never see fights, theres hardly any of the players that knew the rival, not to mention now you can barely touch a player without getting a penelty. I miss hockey like that. I have the tape from the '96 fight when roy and vernon fought and everyone just cleared the benches. I remember being 6 years old and just being blown away at how insane and how amazing this sport was. On a side note when I was 4 years old I could tell you who would play who if this team beat another for the playoffs. My dad and uncle we so proud of me. Anyway as the game ended, and the wings lost, they were showing highlights to past games when there still was a rival. They've asked people if the think that there is still a rival and I think the answer is no. On a side note...is it possible for a hockey game to have 85 minutes in penelties in the new NHL. When Pittsburg is playing Toronto why not. It was amazing.
